We Get It

Picking the Right Fireplace Can Be Confusing

You want something new, beautiful, and warm where there's something old, outdated, and cold. But fireplaces are confusing, it's hard to know what's even possible in your house, and it's easy to put the whole project off another year—while the winters here stay cold and wet.

We'll make sure you get the one you need. One free in-home visit settles what's actually possible, our own gasfitters and technicians handle everything from the permit to the first fire, and the next storm that takes the power out finds you warm.

A wood insert is a sealed, high-efficiency firebox that slides into the masonry fireplace you already own. It vents up the existing chimney through a new stainless liner, and it changes what that fireplace does for a living. The opening that was pulling warm air out of your house all winter becomes the thing heating it.

More questions & answers

Can you put a wood insert in a 200-year-old chimney?

Sometimes, and we won't know until we look. Old chimneys around here can have cracked tiles, missing mortar, or no liner at all. We inspect first and tell you honestly what it needs. If it needs repair, our own chimney crew does that work before the insert goes in.

Wood insert or gas insert?

Wood if you want heat that works in an outage and you don't mind handling fuel. Gas if you want the fire to start with a switch and never think about it again. Both seal the opening and both heat the room—the difference is what you want to do on a Tuesday night in January.

How much does a wood insert cost installed?

The unit, the stainless liner, the surround, and the labor, plus whatever the chimney needs first. Run the instant estimate on any unit here for a real range. The free in-home visit is where we look up the flue and make the number exact.
