We Get It

Picking the Right Fireplace Can Be Confusing

You want something new, beautiful, and warm where there's something old, outdated, and cold. But fireplaces are confusing, it's hard to know what's even possible in your house, and it's easy to put the whole project off another year—while the winters here stay cold and wet.

We'll make sure you get the one you need. One free in-home visit settles what's actually possible, our own gasfitters and technicians handle everything from the permit to the first fire, and the next storm that takes the power out finds you warm.

An electric insert sets into a masonry fireplace you already have and gives you a flame with no gas line, no liner, and no combustion. For a fireplace that's decorative anyway—or a chimney that would cost real money to make usable—it's the shortest distance between a dead brick opening and a room that feels finished.

More questions & answers

Why are there only a few electric inserts here?

Because that's what our catalogue honestly carries in this category. We'd rather show you three units that fit than pad the page. If none of them suits the opening, an electric fireplace or a gas insert usually does—tell us the room and we'll point you at the right one.

Do I need to fix my chimney first?

Not for the insert itself, since nothing vents through it. You should still know its condition—an unlined or damaged chimney is worth understanding even when it's not carrying exhaust. Our technicians can inspect it while we're there.

Will it heat the room?

A little. Treat it as ambience with a modest heater attached. If the room is genuinely cold and you want that fixed, a gas insert in the same firebox is the honest recommendation.
