Do I need a chimney for a gas stove?

No. These are direct-vent appliances that go out through the wall behind or beside them. That's why a stove works in rooms a fireplace never could—an addition, a porch, a basement, or anywhere the masonry doesn't go.

How big a room will one heat?

It depends on the model, the insulation, and how open the floor plan is, so we'd rather size it in person than guess from a square-foot number on a box. Run the instant estimate to see the range, then let us measure the room at the free in-home visit.

Will it run in a power outage?

Many gas stoves will. Without power you lose the blower, so the heat is radiant instead of blown, but the stove lights and burns. On this coast that's worth asking about, and we'll point you at the models that do it.
